If you’ve got a small backyard, a greenhouse that can be moved around can come in rather handy. There are many ways to go about constructing such a greenhouse, and the internet can provide you with all kinds of portable greenhouse plans. Small Greenhouse Designs

There are 2 main styles of greenhouse that can be made portable. They are the modular hot bed and the grow rack. Each of these simple styles have their own unique benefits and drawbacks.

The low laying “hot bed” design is great if you want to grow a large amount of low growing plants. It is shaped very much like a double bed, and has 2 large doors on top. This makes it easy to put plants in and out.

The 2nd small greenhouse shape is the grow rack. It’s shaped much like a free-standing cupboard. Inside are multiple shelves where you can place your plants. This design is great if you’re wanting to grow taller species of plants.

Basic Construction Materials

For a portable greenhouse you’ll want to use something rather light, such as treated pine. Of course, you can always use cedar, which has a natural resistance to water and wood rot. Either way, wood is far better than either metal or plastic options.

As far as the outer walls go, your options include polyethylene plastic, glass, or cloth. It all depends on your budget, though glass isn’t recommended if you’re going to be moving your greenhouse around a lot.

Making It Portable

Both designs discussed in this article can have simple, plastic wheels attached without much effort. It will only cost a few dollars extra, and they are literally “bolt on”.
